Since 1997, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center has brought back a different quality of life to the city of Newark. After the Civil Rights Riots of the late 1960’s, Newark has been known as one of the roughest cities in Essex county.
During such time, its African American residency was heavily populated later increasing with its Hispanic population further urbanizing the environment yet making it more susceptible to impoverished times.
Throughout its tough history, the city has longed for a positive outlet, a common ground that could bridge ethnicities of all backgrounds to reveal their constructive abilities and unify communities.
The New Jersey Performing Arts Center has been Newark’s saving grace, utilizing the power of art and its countless entities to bring the beauty back to the Brick City.
As one of the largest performing arts centers in the US, its 3,840 total seated capacity is home to the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra as well as hub to some of the most prestigious names in music, theater, dance, poetry, fine art along with specializing in hosting corporate and special occasion events.
Consisting of six entertainment areas, Prudential Hall, Victoria Theater, Chase Room, Parsonnet Room, Community Room and Ryan Gallery the center provides multiple impressive options to cater all entertaining platforms.

Floetry’s beautifully elegant songstress Marsha Ambrosius, BET Award winning Hip-Hop Soul artist Musiq Soulchild, two-time BET Award winning R&B, Hip-Hop, Reggae soulful singer Jasmine Sullivan and Grammy Award winner Platinum sensation Anthony Hamilton were just some of the names that have performed this outstanding venue.
